Good value, easy to use September 7, 2010 Wayne T. Anderson (Fort Wayne, IN USA) This is a nice light which is generally effective with what it is supposed to do, and easy to use. The price is quite reasonable also. One reviewer stated that the "beam" of light was small and did not illuminate the entire keyboard. This is basically true in terms of where the bright, center circle of light shows up. But, there is more than enough light surrounding this center beam to easily see what all the keys are (and this is on a 17" laptop). Hence, the light does what it is supposed to accomplish. The one slight annoyance is with the sloppiness of the USB connection. When the light is extended high up to reach over the laptop screen, it moves around very easily if the laptop is in fact on your lap and you move slightly. If the laptop is on a table, no issue. Glad I bought it though. It works well and allows you to navigate your keyboard easily in a dark room.
First laptop light, looking for something better. September 4, 2010 rdcast (NY) Good design, but 3 of the 8 lights start flickering then fail, making it too dim. Otherwise, this light works fine and dimer uses 4 of the 8 lights, so that works fine too. Length and strength of the neck is pretty good. I'd like something as good, but brighter, with a broader coverage. The failure in the LED lights is a quality problem. At night, a light like this is important to have. I'm looking for a replacement of higher quality, with a brighter, broader coverage lighting. I'd be glad to pay twice the cost of this one for the improvements. If the manufacturer of this light improves its quality, then I'd give it 4 stars, maybe 5 if they added 2 more LED lights.
Bulbs start to flicker August 14, 2010 Robert Rounds I was very happy with the Kensington USB light until after about 20 hours of usage several of the eight LED lights began to flicker. It started as just one light and then progressed into three of the eight lights. The flickering is annoying, enough to make me take the device apart to see if there is a loose connection. There isn't. It is just a flaw in the circuit board. I wouldn't recommend buying this product.
Top Heavy August 12, 2010 Shawn Mcmahon (Cheektowaga, NY) The light is bright and Very easy to use, Just plug and play, but its so top heavy that it wont stay up at all unless you have it hang over the laptop screen. However If you have your laptop in your vehicle like I do, It don't stay still period even if it's supported by the screen. So I'm not to happy with it.
