Great mouse that works with Mac, Linux, Windows September 6, 2010 johann (pacific northwest, us) I use this mouse interchangeably with real machines (not virtualized) running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), Windows XP, Windows 7, and Ubuntu Linux 8.04 LTS through 10.04 LTS. Installing the Microsoft software on Mac and Windows improved performance. No product-specific mouse software was necessary (or available) on Ubuntu Linux.
The understated Mobile 6000 provides smooth tracking on any surface I use, including the semi-reflective finish of my dark mahogany desk. The scroll wheel moves smoothly and silently, which I find much more pleasant than a scroll wheel that clicks. All the buttons have a dampened but sufficient "click." Finger motion, rather than hand or wrist motion is adequate to navigate the screen with this mouse. All the buttons are easily accessible without getting in the way.
The mouse is tall to provide an ergonomic fit. Unfortunately for me, this height demands more space than the mouse pocket in my computer briefcase provides. Though fit is an obvious design feature, this comfortable mouse is not designed specifically for right or left-handed people. This is a good mouse for lefties (or righties).
The radio provides flawless performance, even at fifteen feet away. I cannot see the mouse cursor beyond that distance.
Battery life is good, but I did not get the operational life suggested by Microsoft. To be fair, I have only used two batteries with this device, the one that shipped with it and a very old rechargeable. Better batteries might meet Microsoft's marketed lifespan.
Overall, I highly recommend the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 for professionals, artists, musicians, and conservative home users. Geeks, gamerz, and gadget hounds might consider something more flashy, clicky, and zippy.
ITS OKAY. August 26, 2010 K. Vu (Texas) i dont know if its just mine, but at times my mouse pointer will go crazy . i would have to use it on a flat surface like a mouse pad (the best place to use it) or my table. i wouldnt recommend it on other surfaces.
they said it can be used ANYWHERE. but not really. i try using it on my bed and sometimes its so hard to get the mouse pointer exactly where i want it.. it just sometimes doesnt move and then woosh it moves across the screen.
not the best mouse. my logitech works better and its old.
the only good thing about this is that there is a switch button to turn on and off under the mouse!
Great product August 25, 2010 NACORN (RIVERSIDE, CA USA) Most important Windows 7 64 bit compatible. Love that it has features. Small but not too small, feels nice in hand. I really like now the smooth scrolling wheel. They should have designed mice like this from the get go. I wish it would have the blue glow show from underneath like in the picture, but that just for looks. I love this mouse and would buy it again. Plug and play.
Wireless mouse August 24, 2010 Carlos Eduardo A. Souza (Pennsylvania, USA) Good mouse, works in many different surfaces. I tried to use it in my house's carpet, and it works, but not quite well...
Great for a short period of Time August 20, 2010 HS8541 (Carson City, NV) It works great, almost anywhere you want. Five buttons that work. Great battery Life.
Great IF IT STILL WORKED
It one day got extremely hot and stopped working. Search google it is apparently a common problem
