use your laptop in bed ?? August 29, 2010 BT For anyone who uses their laptop in bed this is a perfect stand to prop it on your stomach . has other uses but that is what I bought it for and it works nicely. Easy to open and it folds down flat. I carry it in my laptop bag when I travel. Very light weight.
Avoid for non-unibody macbook pros August 11, 2010 G. Wilson The steepest angle works for unibody Macbook Pros, but not for non-unibody Macbook Pros -- they don't open wide enough.
I bought this to put a secondary laptop (non-Unibody Macbook Pro) on while I work on a primary display directly in front of me. Before purchasing this stand, I used a DIY cardboard stand built from instructions by Tomas Carrillo, which raised the screen by about 8", which worked wonderfully as far as positioning went but (obviously) didn't look too great. I figured that the steepest setting for this stand would work approximately the same way. Unfortunately, I was wrong. While they're fine with the lower angle settings, the non-unibody Macbook pros don't open far enough to make the screen perpendicular to the floor on the 40 degree (steepest) setting. On that setting, the screen is tilted slightly (but noticeably) forward. Avoid this stand if you have a non-unibody Macbook pro and intend to use this stand to raise the display as high as possible.
On the plus side, swiveling and cord management features are very nice -- I'm thinking about keeping this for my non-unibody notebook.
great little riser August 10, 2010 K. Vatev Logitech has arguably the best computer accessories, and this isn't an exception. I believe this was meant to be a portable riser, and as such, works great.
This appears to be the riser version of the Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315. It folds completely flat, and is the same size as the lapdesk. I use it as both, depending on what I need.
The riser is laptop-sized (as in small), and is very lightweight. I can easily put it in my bag and take it wherever I need. And contrary to what other say, you don't really need a keyboard for casual use. I can easily type short things (although it would not be optimal for typing long papers). I guess if you are used to resting your palms on the keyboard, then this would be uncomfortable, but for anyone who can touch type, there is no issue using your laptop keyboard and touchpad with this riser.
It has rubber parts on the bottom to keep the riser still on the desk, and has a non-slip surface with little pegs to keep your laptop still on it.
The only issue I have with this is construction. It is made from plastic (rather nice plastic), and has small metal pieces holding the plastic together. This is fine with a small laptop, which it was meant for. But if you have an older heavy laptop, this might seem a bit flimsy. However, like I said, this is no big deal if you have a small light laptop (I would say no more than 14 or 15 inches).
Works as described August 9, 2010 tree19510 I use it to support a 5.5 lb Dell stuido 15 with 9 cell battery. The stand is very stable. But with the larger battery, the stand only has to be at ithe 10 degree setting for a comfortable viewing height.
I could write with the stand at this angle, but its not too comfortable. I would definitely recommend getting a separate key board or mouse (blue tooth would work very well with this set-up). Set up was intuitive. I have had it about a month so can't comment about cleaning ease but it looks easy to do so - that's why only four stars. Quiet? there are no moving parts to make any noise.
Well designed August 2, 2010 M. Mathews This laptop stand is very well designed. I bought it to replace a much less portable Dell docking stand and couldn't be happy. It fits easily in to my laptop bag, and is very easy to set up.
