Product Description LAPTOP COOLING PLATFORM DOCKWITH FAN
Amazon.com Product Description If you own a laptop, you know all about heat. Because today's notebooks rely on fast processors to do the job, they generate a lot of heat, with much of it landing directly in your lap. Some laptops can have a "normal" operating temperature as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit! Not only is that unsafe and uncomfortable, it can also wear your laptop down, cause it to crash unexpectedly, and reduce its overall life expectancy.
The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed to cradle your laptop in cooling comfort. |
Now you can be more comfortable while you work. |
A single high-capacity fan, which is powered by a USB port on your laptop, sits in the middle of the cooling stand. View larger. |

The USB cable is neatly tucked away in a storage compartment on the bottom. View larger. | Belkin's Laptop Cooling Stand relies on a patented wave design and ergonomic features that will not only help protect your laptop by keeping it cool, but will also increase your comfort while you work. As part of Belkin's laptop@home line of accessories, the Laptop Cooling Stand is designed to help you to take full advantage of the benefits your laptop has to offer-- comfortably, economically, and stylistically. Twice the Cooling Power, Half the Consumption In contrast to most other laptop coolers that use two fans to suck warm air from the laptop's bottom, the Belkin's Laptop Cooling Stand relies on the natural flow of heat and air circulation to do the hard work and needs only one fan to do the trick. Instead of drawing the laptop heat down to push it out, the stand takes full advantage of natural air flow and heat's natural tendency to rise by pushing the hot air upward through the channel and away from your laptop. The single high-capacity fan, powered by a USB port on your laptop, sits in the middle of the cooling stand, and hot air is channeled out to the left and right sides of your laptop. The result is heat dissipation that's equal to a two-fan solution but that uses less than half the power. And because the fan is USB-powered, you won't have any bulky batteries or adapters (which can also both add heat!) to weigh you down. You simply place your laptop on the stand, pull the USB cable out of the convenient storage compartment, and plug it into your computer. The stand will take care of the rest. Computing in Comfort and Style Measuring 12.6 x 11.6 x 1 inches (W x D x H), the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed for 15.4-inch or smaller laptops. To prevent slippage, the stand features rubber pads on the feet, and a small plastic panel folds out from the bottom of the stand that elevates the rear for better ergonomics. The gentle slope reduces wrist strain, and by raising the screen height, it also reduces neck strain that is common to laptop users. Unlike the industrial gray and metallic appearance of other cooling stands, the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand offers an attractive, gently sloped look that you'll be proud to show off as you work. The stand's thin profile means that you can easily slide the stand into your notebook bag as you travel from meeting to meeting, or café to café. And weighing a mere 22 ounces, you'll hardly notice that it's in your bag.

Prone to failure; tilt stand is worthless September 5, 2010 A. Dela Cruz I've had two of these in a month and I had horrible experiences with both. While the fan really does a great job cooling the laptop, the rest of the stand lacks any structural integrity. The first one I owned lasted two weeks before it the fan started making a hideous sound, like it was struggling to run while hitting a hard rubber band. Eventually the fan just stopped working altogether.
I realized that this may have happened because I tried using it the cooling stand on my lap and other non-hard surfaces, but TWO WEEKS? I don't use the computer all day--only for an hour or so at a time--and to know that this thing couldn't take a little roughness from sitting on my lap is sad. After exchanging for a new product (figuring this was a defect), the second Belkin cooling stand I owned suffered the same fate despite taking more careful measures (i.e., only using the laptop stand on a hard surface to prevent blocking air intake).
I want to also add that I HATE the tilt stand. It's flimsy and if you accidentally push forward on your laptop the tilt stand collapses back to its resting position causing the laptop and stand to come crashing down. Useless tilting stand and dangerous to your hardware.
Had this for 1 month and it's junk...pure junk! September 4, 2010 MileHighDJguy (Denver, CO) I bought this cooling pad at Target. One month later I hear this horrible noise coming from under my laptop and I checked it out. I thought I might have found dust. I did clean it out gently every week or so. But...No. It was missing a fan blade. When I blew on it to clear off what little dust there was, 2 more fan blades fell off. Unfortunately it had been over a month since I bought the Belkin, and I could not find the receipt or I would have taken it back. I was stuck with this hunk of junk. Don't bother with this thing. Your laptop deserves better. Spend 5 more bucks and get something that will last more than a month. I wish I had. Now I'm gonna have to spend $30 anyway. Save yourself some pain and frustration. Steer clear of this cheap hunk of crap.
Not worth the headache! August 31, 2010 T. S. Leonard I purchased this unit locally about three months ago. Two months ago the support piece on the bottom broke and coincidentally the fan became very loud. The support is a piece of plastic that snaps onto the bottom of the unit, so I contacted Belkin for a new support. They don't replace just the support, they replace the entire unit. Being in a hurry to get a new unit, I went the quick return route. Belkin puts a $60 hold on your credit card until your $20 units are exchanged. You pay S&H. I excitedly received my second unit within a few days (my laptop runs very hot), hooked it up, and it worked great--for the first month. It began running very loud and finally died last night. It was two months old. This unit isn't worth the effort put into returning it. I'm throwing it out and going with another brand tonight.
Great idea for a cool computer August 31, 2010 toozie The Belkin Laptop cooling pad, does exactly what it is suppose to do, considering the inexpensive price it is definetely worth getting. I like it so much I bought one more for my granddaughter's computer and she likes it as well.
Belkin Cool Pad August 30, 2010 Billy Yank The only cool pads I will ever buy will be Belkins. I had two Targus cool pads that quit after only a few months. The design of the Belkin allows it to cool the computer much more efficeintly than the Targus pads ever did. Place your hand under the computer while the Belkin is running and it literally feels like an air conditioner is running under the machine.
